Zainab Sheikh Foundation Ltd is an Australian registered charity committed to creating hope, dignity and opportunity through humanitarian assistance, education and community development in Somalia and Australia.
Founded from personal tragedy, driven by lifelong commitment.
The Zainab Sheikh Foundation Ltd was established in memory of Zainab Sheikh, whose passing left a profound absence in the lives of her family and community. Out of that grief came a determination that other families should not endure the same preventable loss.
That determination deepened during the cholera tragedy in Bardhere, Gedo, where families lost children and loved ones to a disease driven by unsafe water and a lack of basic healthcare. Watching a community suffer from something so preventable made one truth undeniable: clean water, healthcare and education are not privileges - they are the foundations of life.
ZSF was founded to respond to that reality. What began as a personal promise has grown into an organised, accountable charity delivering clean water, healthcare support, education and orphan care, food security, women and girls empowerment and environmental sustainability programs across Somalia - alongside education, community support and employment programs for culturally and linguistically diverse communities here in Australia.
Every project is delivered with the community, not for it, and carefully monitored so that donor funds achieve measurable, lasting outcomes.
